The first edition of AppEvent is a fact and we can say it was a great success! The AppEvent-website had in January 152.108 hits, from which were 40.406 unique visitors. A 4.061.270 pages were visited, this is good for a staggering 4.895.191 clicks, or 32+ hits per visit.
We would like to thank all developers who made the AppEvent a success by donating their application for free. Without them it would not been such a success as it turned out to be. Jeroen Wunnink of WM Innovations deserves a lot of credit for making the webhosting possible and also for his application KookJij.
During the month January, we were able to host 31 days of free applications from Dutch en Belgian developers. With the 6 applications, we gives away as Grand Slam yesterday, the counter stopped at a total of 37 FREE applications! These applications have been downloaded more than 250.000 times. Most developers were more than happy to work with us in the AppEvent. Some applications got launched by AppEvent. One of them is the top game iSjoel, for free on January the 7th. This application is untill today in the top 15 ranking of Dutch App Store! But other applications like Weerbericht (Wheaterforcast) and Flitspalen (Speed Cameras), got their place in the top as well.
What will the future bring?
The first edition of AppEvent was a great success, there are plans to repeat the AppEvent in 2011. With some minor adjustments, we want to reach a bigger group iPhone users in the world. One of the ideas we are playing with is to create a English AppEvent site for the rest of the globe because you all deserve the right to enjoy free applications. With the announcement of the iPad, we have the possibility to give away free applications for this device as well at AppEvent, Without changing the basic: also in the next editions it will be only Dutch and Belgian applications we are hosting for free.
But we have more great news, we can already announce that there is most likely going to be a AppEvent-app in the App Store. This makes it even more easier for our fans to get the latest news from AppEvent.
See you at the next AppEvent!
